Dear MK-User,

The following four titles can be found in the MK424:
1549. Lady "Di". Richard Clayderman's pianistic career began in 1976 when he recorded as a piece written for his publisher's daughter, Adeline. The "Ballade pour Adeline" sold over 22 million copies in 38 countries. Since then he has sold around 90 million records. And his composer-publisher team Toussaint/Senneville has now composed more than 600 piano titles of this catchy piano music and Clayderman established himself as a representative of the "popular classic". "Lady Di", recorded by Richard Clayderman in 1982, is intended to commemorate the popular Princess and the 25th anniversary of her death. The popular "princess of hearts" died on 31. August 1997 in Paris after a tragic car accident.

1550. Begin the Beguine was composed and written by American composer Cole Porter for the 1935 musical 'Jubilee.' It became an evergreen and a jazz standard. The pun of the almost identically written and pronounced "begin" and "beguine" refers to the beguine, a Caribbean dance related to rumba that came to Paris in the 19th century, where Cole Porter met it during one of his stays in Europe. The title owes its fame mainly to the recording of Artie Shaw and his orchestra, recorded on July 24, 1938 and released in August 1938, which topped the Billboard charts for 6 weeks - and sold a million copies!

1551. Smuglyanka is a partisan song with music by Anatoly Novikov and lyrics by Yakov Shvedov, composed in 1940 by order of the government in the style of Moldavian folk music. For many Russians, the song “Smuglyanka” is closely related to the legendary film by Leonid Bykov “Only Old Men Go to War”. The song was actually a love song, but got into the party mills of the confusing wartime and was only rediscovered after the Second World War by the military choir Alaksandrov. Here is a discofox version with 2 chords by the duo Ljubanya. The original is in C minor - the verse 1 in A minor - both versions can only be played adequately with two accordions, because in the Discofox with Tempo 140 some passages are to be played in two-part 16th notes....

1552. Champagne Polka is composed by JOHANN STRAUSS (Op. 211). Strauss gave this polka the nickname "musical joke". It was composed during his 1858 tour of Russia and premiered in Pavlovsk. In the work, the composer describes the popping of champagne corks and the merry exuberance of a ball. The composer turned to champagne in many of his works. The climax of this preference was then several numbers of his operetta "Die Fledermaus" dedicated to champagne. The champagne polka was well received both in Russia and in Vienna, where it was first played on November 21, 1858 in the "Volksgarten".
